The star sign getting the most dates on Tinder

Some say love is written in the stars, others insist it's all about a hot bod and six figure salary. To each their own.

But Tinder has revealed that when it comes to finding love the stars might actually be playing a bigger role than we think.

Or at least our star signs are.

The dating app has revealed which star signs are getting the most matches, which could be a great new excuse to use when your friends ask why you're still single.

"Sorry Stacey, I'm a Pisces," you can inform them with a totally straight face. "Love just isn't on the cards for me."

Okay, so the situation may not be that dire, but Pisces ladies did come in at the absolute bottom of the list when it came to which star signs receive the most swipes.

Scorpio girls took out the top place, followed by the Leo and Taurus women, creating a top three full of strong personalities and determination.

It could suggest that women with more outgoing star signs are more likely to attract a match, potentially because they're more confident when it comes to dating.

Or maybe blokes are just super into scorpions, lions and bulls – who knows?

Cancer women came in fourth with plenty of guys swiping right on the tender, more nurturing sign, followed by Virgos, Capricorns, Geminis, Aquarians and Librans.

In the bottom three positions for the girls were Aries, Sagittarius and Pisces ladies, Tinder explaining that it might be Piscean's "gentle, sensitive nature [that is] overlooked when swiping."

If you're a Pisces lady, maybe now is the time to add some fire to your bio (not the emoji) and try appearing more like the confident Scorpios that guys seem to love.

Speaking of guys, a surprising twist saw Pisceans came in third position for blokes, beaten only by Taureans and Virgos.

Speaking as someone who has dated both a Taurus and a Virgo after matching with them on Tinder, the data sounds pretty legit.

Taureans are pretty grounded and reliable, while Virgos tend to be hardworking and ambitious, which are definitely traits women tend to like in their men.

Guys born under the signs of Cancer, Sagittarius and Capricorn took the bottom spots for the blokes, which means that Sagittarians came in second last place for both genders; ouch.

While plenty of people don't put any stock into horoscopes, and there's not really any way of changing your star sign, as least these rankings might give a few of us the bragging rights of claiming we're the most-swiped star signs.
