Simple gift wrapping hack goes viral

Ashley Kent

There's nothing more frustrating than getting to the end of your Christmas shopping and starting to wrap... and realising you're short on paper, meaning another trip to the shops.

However, it seems there's a way around that. The genius gift-wrapping hack comes courtesy of a Tik Tok video that's gone viral, leaving some users bewildered.

The clip, re-shared on Twitter, shows a woman overcoming the issue of a piece of wrapping paper being too 'short' for the size of the gift.

The woman folds the paper in triangles diagonally across the box, rather than in squares horizontally, creating a perfect and neatly-wrapped gift — no gaps to be seen.

The clip received almost 160,000 retweets and thousands of comments from users who were divided on whether the hack was genius or just common knowledge.

"Wowwwwwwwwww so all that paper I wasted and I could have done this," wrote one intrigued fan.

"What is this witchcraft?!" added a second.

"I have been wrapping presents wrong my whole life," wrote a third.

Not everyone was completely impressed, with some pointing out they had been doing the same thing for years.

"I thought that's how everybody wraps tiny boxes," wrote one Twitter user in the know.

"I already do that, found out one day by accident and the power of shapes! Still a great video for those who don't know," added a second.

"I'm reading these comments and you're gonna tell me people really be cutting up more paper to cover bare spots on presents? Damn dude wrapping ain't that hard," wrote a third.
