YouTubers’ cruel prank on 6-year-old ends in tears

April Fool’s Day is the one day of the year you can put cling wrap over the toilet seat and pretty much get off scot free.

However, when it comes to pranks there needs to be a line, and one US family has arguably crossed it in order to draw views on Youtiube.

YouTubers ‘The LaBrant Fam’ pranked their six-year-old daughter Everleigh by telling her they were giving away the family dog, Carl.

In their April 1 post, the family is depicted in the midst of a series of ‘prank wars’, including Everleigh hiding in a suitcase to scare her mum. However, father Cole is seen returning to the camera to explain he had informed his daughter of some sad news.

Showing the audience his daughter looking upset with her head buried in the couch, the dad says, “We kind of thought she already knew but we hadn’t told her. So Savannh [her mum] had to tell her the sad news.”

Cole then asks the little girl if she’s okay, prompting a head shake. The video then captures Everleigh sitting up, looking sad and crying on her mum’s arm.

“Do you want to tell the Vlog?” asks Cole, to which his daughter responds with a shake of the head, prompting her mum to speak.

“We have kind of been discussing Carl lately, and there’s a few reasons why we are doing what we are doing,” Savannah says.

“There’s a few reasons why we are doing what we are doing.”

She tells the camera the family decided to give away their Pomeranian because they “feel like they can’t take good enough care of him”, explaining they are always gone and filming and that he “poops and pees” in the house.

However, after explaining their reasoning, the YouTuber parents tell Everleigh the following day is April 1, and that they were in fact recording their “April Fool’s Vlog.”

At this, the little girl bursts into tears over the taunt, with her parents seemingly shocked that she even believed it.

The prank received backlash from viewers, who labelled it cruel and unfair to Everleigh, with one fan going so far as to say they were “disgusted with Cole and Savannh”.

On Wednesday, Cole and Savannah released a Vlog addressing the “hate” they had received.

“We have been getting a lot more hate than we usually ever have,” Cole says.

“The crazy mean comments are getting to us as parents… we felt compelled to address it,” his wife adds.

The pair reassure their over 7.8 million subscribers their children have a good life, and that Everleigh though the prank was funny.

“We think we’re awesome parents,” Savannh concludes the video.

“But we all make mistakes, and that’s just human. So we’re sorry.”
