The Block's Sarah-Jane: 'Tom and I share a toothbrush, but we don't share money'

When it comes to marriage, there's a lot you share with your partner. Kids, property, household chores, groceries… your toothbrush, perhaps?
In their latest I Just Can't with SJ & Rach podcast episode, Sarah-Jane Calleja admits she and husband Tom share a toothbrush, but reveals she doesn't know how much is in his bank account.

"I share my toothbrush with Tom," she reveals.
"There's going to be someone sitting and listening to this going, 'That is so horrific. That is so disgusting, Sarah-Jane, I can't even… I'm gagging' and then there's going to be half going, 'I do that too'.
"I've never previously shared my toothbrush with partners, but Tom didn't care, and he'd just grab mine all the time."
"People probably think I wear the pants in our relationships cause I'm quite loud… but realistically I don't, Tom does," SJ adds.

Co-host Rachel is quick to back her up: "I agree with that. Tom does… I bear witness."
It seems sharing a toothbrush isn't the only slightly unorthodox practice in the Calleja household.
"He does control our finances, which people probably find really strange. He doesn't share his money," Sarah-Jane says.

"Tom and I have been together for nine years, we're about to have our second child and I've never seen his bank account.
"The money we won from The Block went straight into his bank account… we didn't go 50/50."
Rachel is quick to ask the question on most people's lips: "And then you have to ask him for money or something?"

SJ responds with her trademark humour.
"If it's a high purchase, yeah. It's not like he says no to me, but it feels weird to have to ask as a 30-year-old mother," she quips.
"Maybe he's a millionaire and he doesn't want me to find out."
