Teenage girl dies in horrific crash a day after her prom

Just one day after attending prom a 17-year-old high school student was killed in a horrific car crash that left three of her friends injured.

Alexis 'Lexi' Faye was riding in a rented Mercedes Benz on Saturday May 11, with her friend Anthony Burke, 17, driving and Maria Fiore, 16, and Nicholas Chavarria, 17, also in the car.

The group was returning from a trip to a local zoo the day after their prom when the car suddenly veered off the road and flipped.

Emergency teams rushed to the site of the crash, where Faye was pronounced dead.

Her three friends were rushed to hospital, where Fiore remains in intensive care but is expected to recover.

Burke and Chavarria suffered only minor injuries, Burke having remained in hospital with a concussion while Chavarria was discharged.

His friends have revealed Chavarria is struggling to come to terms with the fatal crash.

The group had rented the Mercedes for their prom the night before, driving to the event and then on to an afterparty at a friend's home.

The party was the last place where Faye's boyfriend of three years, Anthony McCann, ever saw her.

“We never want Lexi to be forgotten, and she never will be forgotten,” McCann told NJ.com.

The teenager has been remembered as kind and loving, with friends saying she lit up every room she walked into.

“She was so easy to get along with and she was really an amazing person," said friend Briana Moffatt.

"She really was a blessing in all of our lives.”
