Aussie model praised for ‘normalising flaws’ on Instagram

Ashley Kent

Former Australia’s Next Top Model contestant Taylah Roberts has overhauled both her image and mental space in the six years since she starred on the show. The 24-year-old model is now embracing a fuller figure, and sharing her ‘flaws’ in a bid to end the shame many women in the industry feel.

In her latest post, Roberts, who pegs herself as a body confidence role model, has captured the cellulite visible on her thighs in the reflection of a change room mirror.

“I could write a long a— caption and talk about how this once would have made me break down and cry,” her caption begins.

“But instead I’m just gonna leave it here with the intent of normalising flaws in the hopes that someone will see this at the right time and know they are beautiful too.

“No matter how you look in an awfully lit changeroom.”

The post attracted almost 5k likes, and hundreds of comments, all praising her for being so real about her body.

“I needed this after almost gouging my eyes out in Zara's changing rooms yesterday,” commented one fan.

“Thank you. I’ve cried too many times in the change room. Not anymore,” wrote another.

Roberts had women from all walks of life cheering her on in her pursuit for body confidence, including mums who thanked her for being such a fabulous role model for their daughters.

One fan, hit the nail on the head, referring to a very fitting Mean Girls quote: “Raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimised by an awfully lit changeroom.”
