When MAFS' dinner-party fashion goes turbo: Christian Wilkins on the 'Talking Married' podcast

At lot of things went down at last night's Married At First Sight Married At First Sight : speeches, raps, maybe even the beginning of a feud. But more than all that, there was some kind of weird change in the sartorial current.

And 9Honey's fashion expert Christian Wilkins had #feelings about it.

"What happened this week?" he asked Shelly Horton on the Talking Married podcast this week.

"I mean, I'm down for it completely. But everyone very much went from t-shirts to tuxes."

He wasn't wrong.

Christian's biggest hit: Sarah and her sparkly boobs

"I'm a gay man, and it's Mardi Gras this week, and my favourite thing in the world is boobs with sparkles, so she just got a huge 'tick tick' from me," Christian said.

"I was so down for that. I really liked the geometric look."

Sarah did look stunning.

Shelly observed that it seemed like the other dinner party guests didn't know quite, er, where to look. But as Christian very correctly said, "Not her problem!"

"I thought she looked great," he said. "If you've got em, flaunt em. I would!"

But Christian did think Sarah's groom Telv had taken the formal dinner-wear thing a bit far. "I mean, he looked cute." he agreed. "But it was a little out of place ... like, 'Where do you think you're going?'"

So what dress code would Christian go for?

"I would say smart casual," he told Shelly. "Shirt, chinos, maybe chuck on a blazer if you want."

And a lounge suit, maybe. Even if no one really knows that that is.

Christian's biggest miss: sea-foam couple dressing

What everyone should avoid at all costs, Christian told Shelly, is couple dressing. 

So, Troy and Ashley's "matching sea foam" ... 

"That is a firm no from me," Christian said vehemently. "A firm no."

Couples should be "in the same realm of formality", he explained (think, say, both wearing swimsuits to the beach).

"[But] the same colour, that just looks stupid," he said. "At least pick a theme!"

The other big no-no was Dean's ripped jeans.

"I hated them," Christian said simply.

"At nighttime, it's not appropriate. Perhaps [for] a summer lunch ... if you're near some water, you just want to air out them knees, maybe you need a little tan ..."
