Sticky Situations: Are we putting too much pressure on grandparents to do babysitting?
We all know it takes a village to raise a child.
But we don’t really have that village anymore. The cost of childcare is ridiculous. For most families it’s parents and grandparents who shoulder the childcare responsibilities.
But it begs the question: “Are we putting too much pressure on grandparents to do babysitting?”
Today’s grandparents, are a combination of younger baby boomers and older Generation X’ers. They are under 65 and the majority, not yet retired.

They are busy in a new phase of their lives that doesn’t have room for them to drop everything and care for their grandkids.
Some grandparents are pushing back. “I’m not the mother or babysitter. I love my grandkids but I’ll see them on my terms.”
So how much is too much?
The 9Honey superstars Shauna Anderson, Jane de Graaff and Jo Abi discuss this in the video above.
