Woman takes epic selfie in the delivery suite

Your sister is in labour. You’re there to reassure her, to hold her hand, to be her rock...but wait: is this not the perfect moment for a selfie?

Probably not the thought that goes through most birthing partner’s minds in the delivery suite, but Kat Armendariz, from El Paso in Texas, is clearly different from the rest. She spied her picture opportunity while her sister was screaming in bed behind her - taking a selfie during the sensitive moment. 

The aunt then shared her image on Imgur, writing: “SELFIE! While my sister is about to shove a baby out her vag!”

The picture quickly got the attention of other users, racking up over 1,000 comments in a short space of time.

Some felt that her timing was insensitive. However Kat, who is a mother of five herself, insists that her sister saw the funny side after the birth, telling Mashable that she wasn’t in too much pain at first.

“I told her I was going to do it, she just started the oxytocin and the labor pains began almost instantly. 

“She started to feel it and right when she was like, 'Oh my god I can't take this, 'I took the photo.'”

Thank goodness she has a laid-back sister.
