Schapelle Corby's parole officer speaks: 'She wants to go home'

Schapelle Corby's parole officer has spoken about her deportation from Indonesia next month and dismissed rumours that the convicted drug trafficker has a boyfriend, telling reporters "she wants to go home".

Ketut Sukiati told the Sydney Morning Herald Corby was not due to report to her before her parole ends and she's deported back to Australia on 27th May.

She said Corby is "busy is this month because of her preparation to go home next month", but denied reports the former beauty therapy student was dating a local man who has also served time for drug offences, Ben Panangian.

She also gave an insight in to the Queensland woman's state of mind.

"Last time she came for a report she said she wants to go home of course", Ketut said. "She looked normal when she said it, not too excited or anything."

Corby has been living in Kuta for the past three years while on parole for smuggling just over a kilo of marijuana in to Bali in her boogie board bag in October 2004. She was sentenced to 20 years in Indonesia's infamous jail, Kerobokan prison.

Her sentence was then reduced to 15 years, and by the time she was released on parole in February 2014, the 39-year-old had served nine years behind bars. 

A condition of her parole was to stay in the country until May 2017.

Ketut says the media frenzy surrounding the case has affected Corby. 

"She was relaxed whenever she had to come in and report if there were no media", she said.

"If she saw a journalist, she changed. If there was no one she was friendly, fine, she will greet everybody, smile, she will say good morning to every staff member. But if there is media around, her face changed, she closed off."

"She's not a very open person", Ketut added. "We have to talk to her slowly to get her to open up to us".

Indonesian authorities have said Corby will not be given special treatment when her sentence is up next month. She will report to the parole office and immediately be transported to the airport to board a plane back to Australia. She will almost certainly be banned from visiting Indonesia for at least six months.
