Sarah Ferguson's half-sister welcomes baby on duchess' birthday

It seems Sarah, Duchess of York is enjoying something of a Ferguson family baby boom.

Last month, her half-sister Elizabeth 'Eliza' Ferguson, 34, welcomed her first child with husband Harry Cobb, the Daily Mail reports.

In an even lovelier turn of events, the baby girl's arrival happened to fall on her aunty's birthday, October 15; 'Fergie' celebrated turning 61 this year.

"The Duchess is thrilled. It was the perfect gift for her birthday," a spokesperson told columnist Richard Eden.

Eliza's daughter's name is Elba Pear Rosemary.

Sarah and Eliza are both daughters of the late Major Ronald Ferguson, who died in 2003.

The Major's first wife Susan Wright was mother to Sarah and her older sister Jane, while Eliza is the youngest of three children born to his second wife, Susan Rosemary Deptford.

This baby news comes two months after it was announced Fergie's daughter Princess Eugenie was expecting her first child with husband Jack Brooksbank.

The baby, due in early 2021, will be the first grandchild for Sarah and her ex-husband Prince Andrew, whom she still lives with in Windsor.

"Thrilled for them both and in my 60th year cannot wait to be a grandmother," the Duchess wrote in an Instagram post sharing the news.

"Welcoming a new baby into the York family is going to be a moment of profound joy."

Eugenie's pregnancy wasn't the only cause for celebration in the York household this year.

In July, Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in an intimate ceremony near Royal Lodge, the family's home in Windsor.

The couple initially planned to marry in May but were forced to postpone their nuptials due to coronavirus restrictions.

Family milestones aside, Sarah has also been keeping busy throughout 2020 with her YouTube series, Story Time with Fergie and Friends.

Launched during the first COVID-19 lockdown in the UK, the video series sees Sarah and a selection of her famous friends reading storybooks to children.

The mother of two was also recently named Global Ambassador for the Kindness Research Foundation.
