'She was more my mother than my own mother': Fergie opens up on the late Queen Elizabeth
Sarah Ferguson has been a member of the British royal family since she wed the late Queen Elizabeth's son Prince Andrew on July 23, 1986.
While their relationship didn't last, the Duchess of York remained close to the monarch after her divorce, even revealing she was more like a mother than a mother-in-law to her.
Fergie is currently in Australia to promote her new book, A Woman of Intrigue.
Today she appeared on Jessica Rowe's podcast, The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show, with the conversation turning to her relationship with the Queen, who died in 2022.

"The thing about the Queen was that she was more my mother than my own mother," Fergie said.
"The Queen was an iconic, legendary, stalwart, steadfast, invisible hand of love behind your back."
But while she enjoyed a loving relationship with the Queen, she said she never fully relaxed around her.

"You certainly were in awe, and therefore you kept your wits about you," she said.
"She's one of the greatest leaders of our time.
"I mean, she was the grandmother of the nation. She was the steadfastness of an extraordinary pillar of strength for the Commonwealth, for the nation, for Australia, for the world," she said before adding she was "greatly missed."
The conversation then turned to the two corgis who were left behind after the Queen's death in 2022.
Muick and Sandy were gifted to the Queen to keep her company at Windsor Castle during the pandemic.

After her death, they went to live with the Duchess and her former husband Prince Andrew, who reside a short way away at Royal Lodge inside Windsor Great Park.
"They are national treasures, so they are very spoiled," she said.
"Certainly when you look at them, you understand why the Queen loved her corgis, because they're very nice people, corgis."
