It's not often we can relate to a royal family member — but Queen Maxima of the Netherlands' latest photo proves sometimes, they're just like us.

After the Dutch royal family shared photos of Maxima taking part in a video call, Instagram users noticed that although she was looking her usual polished self up top, she was more relaxed on the bottom; she'd kicked off her shoes for the meeting.

A series of photos were shared on the Royal family's Instagram page, showing the 49-year-old set up at her desk and a large monitor, barefoot as she attends the virtual visit.

The mother-of-three was paying a virtual visit to Senegal in her role as a UN Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development.

"Look at her bare feet!" one user exclaimed.

"We have not yet been able to catch Máxima wearing sweatpants with stains, but apparently she is Zooming without shoes now," joked another.

The Dutch royal family was criticised in October after going on holiday to Greece, just three days after the Dutch government advised locals to stay at home to try and stop the spread of COVID-19.

Queen Maxima, along her with husband King Willem-Alexander, 53, and their three daughters returned home to the Netherlands after just one day, saying in a statement that it's "necessary that the guidelines are followed" in order to get the deadly virus under control.
