Queen Margrethe's first public outing since being hospitalised for fall

Queen Margrethe II, the former Queen of Denmark, has made her first appearance since she suffered a fall in September.

The former monarch, 84, attended her first engagement since her health debacle, presenting the Ebbe Munck Award.

The honour was set up in 1975 to commemorate the World War II resistance fighter, journalist, oppositionist, diplomat and chief of court, and is awarded to those who work in fields of his interest, such as fashion.

"In the Velvet Makket at Christiansborg Castle, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe handed over the Ebbe Munck's Honorary Prize to Margrethe Vestager, who for the last ten years has been the representative of Denmark as Competition Commissioner and Leading Vice-Chairman of the EU Commission," said a translation of the post from the royal family's Instagram account about the event.

The Queen was seen in a light blue dress and matching blazer, carrying a black handbag and wearing her hair in her signature tight bun.

She moved with the assistance of a walking stick as she handed out the awards to recipients, smiling as she shook their hands.

Following the incident on September 19, the royal was taken to Copenhagen's largest public hospital, Rigshospitalet after the accident at Fredensborg Castle.

There, doctors discovered the queen had damaged vertebrae in her neck and suffered a fracture in her left hand.

Since then, she had been reportedly recovering at the castle where the incident occurred.

A few days later, her daughter-in-law, Australian-born Queen Mary commented on the former Queen's health.

After being asked about Queen Margrethe's healtfh status at an even in Copenhagen, Mary told Danish magazine Billed Bladet, "Under the circumstances, she is doing very well."
