Sweden's Princess Madeleine moves family out of Miami home following robbery

Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her family have reportedly moved out of their Miami home following a robbery.

Madeleine, 37, and her British-American husband Chris O'Neill, 45, divide their time between the United States and Sweden with their three young children in tow, renting homes in both Miami and Stockholm.

While it has not been confirmed what was stolen from their US home, or exactly when, it's been reported the family was abroad when the property was targeted.

With Madeleine quite active on social media, it's possible the thieves already knew nobody was home.

The family had been living in the luxury seven-bedroom, six-bathroom villa in Miami's Pinecrest neighbourhood for a year and a half since relocating from London in 2018.

However, in January, they abruptly moved out of the $4.5 million property, with press assuming that the rental home had gone on sale.

With children Leonore, six, Nicolas, four, and Adrienne, one, settled into the area, with the eldest attending a local school, the family chose to relocate to another house in the same area.

In addition to their new Florida home, the family also rents an apartment at the Royal Mews in Stockholm where they stay when they are in Sweden.

This isn't the first time a member of the Swedish Royal Family has experienced a robbery.

Madeleine's aunt, Princess Christina, had several pieces of jewellery stolen and a priceless 18th-century figure shattered when thieves ransacked Drottningholm Castle in 2010.

In August 2018, two thieves carried out the daring robbery in broad daylight, stealing various heirlooms belonging to the Swedish crown from the Cathedral of Strängnäs dating back to the 1600s.

Their haul included two burial crowns belonging to Swedish kings and a golden orb, which were found in a Stockholm dumpster six months later.
