Princess Charlotte's new name at school
We may know them colloquially as 'The Cambridges', but it seems Prince William and Kate's children will all formally use Cambridge as their surname throughout their school life.
Princess Charlotte, four, is preparing for her first big day at school on Thursday, and along with her new school supplies, the little royal will also be getting used to her new name.

Her older brother Prince George, six, has attended Thomas's Battersea for the past two years and is already used to being addressed as George Cambridge. The name is derived from their parents titles, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Undoubtedly, he'll help his little sister with the transition.
Similarly, their father Prince William and uncle Prince Harry were known as William and Harry Wales during their school years, with the name adopted from their father Prince Charles' title of Prince of Wales.

When Princess Charlotte walks through the gates of her new school, she will be accompanied by her mother, father and big brother.
This will be an especially exciting moment for the Duchess of Cambridge, who missed George's first day in 2017 due to the severe morning sickness she experienced while pregnant with Prince Louis.
Kensington Palace has also confirmed Charlotte will have special chaperones with her during her first day of school.

In Cambridge style, the family will also most likely share some photos of the special milestone with royal fans, perhaps holding a photo call at home ahead of Charlotte's classes as they did with George two years ago.
However, there is also the possibility Catherine will take her own photos to share, as she has for her children's birthdays.
Prince George is said to be quite protective of his siblings, and will likely keep an eye on his little sister as she finds her feet at her new school.
