Fans catch Prince William losing his composure in new clip from Royal Variety Performance

Eagle-eyed royal fans caught Prince William laughing so hard he cried during this year's annual Royal Variety Performance and it looks like Kate Middleton wasn't far behind.

The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the star-studded show at the Royal Albert Hall at the end of November, but the recording only just aired in the UK.

Fans were quick to spot the royals in stitches when comedian Tom Allen took to the stage with a few side-splitting jokes about online shopping.

The camera cut to William as Allen quipped about the hoops websites make users jump through to prove they're not robots, revealing the senior royal in tears of laughter.

He and the Princess of Wales attended the performance with Swedish royals Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, who were also seen laughing during the show.

All four royals were also seen chuckling through British comedian Bradley Walsh's comedy set, though his jokes poked fun at their royal titles.

"It doesn't sound right, your royal highnessesses. There's too many 'ssessess', innit? Your royal highness... your royal highnessesses?" he quipped.

"It should be like cactus, cactussess, cacti. Your royal highness, highnesses and highni. That's it, I've got it: your royal highni."

Some viewers panned the joke, but William and Kate took it in good humour when the camera cut to them in the audience.

Walsh also jokingly begged the royals for a knighthood or similar honour during his appearance, just so his two-year-old grandson could brag about it at show and tell.

"I have worked for your greatnan, your nan, your granddad, your dad, and now I'm working for you, Sir and Madam," Walsh said.

"And I must say - ask me if I've got an MBE. Nah, ain't got one. Ask me if I've got an OBE - nah, ain't got one of them. Ask me if I've got a CBE - no!"

An MBE, or Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, is the third highest ranking Order of the British Empire award, excluding knighthood.

A CBE, or Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, is a step above an MBE.

Walsh joked that the royals have "probably run out" of the awards because they hand them out to "people on telly who bake cakes"; a reference to Mary Berry, who was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 2020.

Though the Prince and Princess of Wales didn't seem to have any complaints about Walsh's royal comedy, viewers at home weren't so impressed.

Some royal fans on social media branded the comedian's routine "dull", "disrespectful" and "cringe-worthy" and praised the couple for taking Walsh's jokes so well.
