Trooping the Colour: Prince Louis wears same outfit Prince Harry once wore

Olivia Morris

Prince Louis made his debut on the famous Buckingham Palace balcony for Trooping the Colour this year.

The one-year-old showed off his adorable royal wave to the crowds watching on – the tot was also clearly very excited about the RAF flypast above.

While many royal fans would have been in awe about just how cute Louis is, some would have missed the sweet detail about his outfit.

Louis' blue and white shirt and shorts combo was actually previously worn by another royal at Trooping the Colour 33 years earlier—the outfit was worn by his uncle, Prince Harry.

While it's unclear if the outfit was actually passed down, or a simple replication, royal fans can't deny it's just downright adorable.

Harry, who would have been 21-months-old at the time, wore the outfit for Trooping the Colour in 1986.

This year's procession marked the first for Louis, who was held by his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

His elder siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were also in attendance, as well as Prince William.

The event also marked Meghan Markle's first appearance since giving birth to baby Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, who was not there for the festivities.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex travelled from Buckingham Palace in the same carriage as Kate Middleton and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, to the Horse Guard Parade.

Meanwhile for Her Majesty the Queen, this year's Trooping the Colour marked the 69th annual procession she has attended – and her 66th as the ruling monarch.

Trooping the Colour is one of the most important events in the royal calendar as it marks the official birthday of the ruling sovereign, which is currently Queen Elizabeth II.
