It has been revealed that Prince Harry was warned against flying a private jet to the Google climate change summit in Sicily last month, with the Duke reportedly ignoring advice from his PR team – landing himself in hot water with the public.

According to the Daily Mail, the Prince was warned prior to the three private jet rides that ultimately turned the public against him and the Duchess, Meghan Markle.

"Aides warned Harry against taking a private flight to Sicily to attend a Google climate change conference," the source told the Daily Mail.

The Prince ignored the guidance and got on the plane.

"It came back to bite him. Badly," the source added.

A week after the Google summit, the Duke and Duchess flew by private jet to Ibiza to celebrate Meghan's 38th Birthday, and then to Elton John's mansion in the south of France with their son Archie.

The three flights were taken a few weeks before Prince Harry launched a sustainable travel initiative, leading to the couple being labelled "hypocrites" by Piers Morgan and many other royal fans.

The drama only heightened when Prince Harry's brother, the future King, his wife and three children were photographed lugging their suitcases across the tarmac after taking a budget airline flight just weeks later.

Following the weeks of drama, it was rumoured that the couple were attempting to use their current tour to Africa to straighten out their public image – which is reportedly working.

The Daily Mail also reporting that the couple are "really listening" to the advice from their PR teams and have hired a new PR officer.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on tour in Africa until the end of this week.
