Royal Ascot 2018: Meghan and Harry join the Queen in carriage procession

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have joined members of the Royal Family at Ascot 2018 - but a cheeky move from a star jockey may have stolen their limelight (temporarily, at least).

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex presented Frankie Dettori with his winning trophy following the St James' Palace Stakes race on Tuesday afternoon, the sportsman seized his chance to plant a kiss on Meghan's hand.

Though the former actress' new husband appeared stony-faced as it happened, Harry's face cracked into a grin moments later.

Meghan wore a white shirt dress by Givenchy, the fashion house that designed the bridal gown she wore to her wedding at Windsor Castle on May 19. She accessorised with simple black accessories and hat.

It is believed they were invited every year, but politely declined until Catherine attended to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday in 2016.

Prince William, meanwhile, was busy on royal engagements, opening James' Palace -- a mental health centre offering support for men -- and speaking at The Business Fest in Liverpool.

The Princess Royal and Duke of York joined their mother in the lead carriage and were followed by another carrying the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Harry and Meghan were next, with the Earl and Countess of Wessex, and waved as they travelled past the packed stands on their way to the royal box.

The happy couple were seen chatting animatedly to Prince Charles and Camilla, before mingling with other guests.

The royal arrival came just minutes after it was revealed that Zara and Mike Tindall had welcomed their second child, a baby girl, making the Queen a great-grandmother for the seventh time.
