Prince Harry's biographer claims he's become an 'airy-fairy do-gooder'

Almost a year on from their decision to resign as senior working royals, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are still generating plenty of discussion.

Ahead of the first anniversary of the 'royal exit' declaration, Prince Harry's biographer Angela Levin claims he has become an "airy-fairy do-gooder" over the past 12 months.

"It is clear to see that the Duchess of Sussex has blossomed back in her native country ... Her husband, however, has become a shadow of the prince I once knew," the author writes in The Telegraph.

Levin believes Harry has lost the mix of "royal stardust, accessibility, confidence and mischief" she observed over the 15 months she spent with the prince while writing his biography in 2018.

Since moving to the US with wife Meghan Markle and their son Archie, Harry has seemingly "discarded his life as an action man" and embraced a "woke" outlook, she says.

"It is so out of character for him to lecture us on how to live our lives," Levin writes, referring to the prince's statements on issues including the environment and systemic racism.

The biographer even suggests Harry has accepted the role of "being second" to the Duchess, who has a long history of social activism.

"Of course, he would not be the first man to be besotted with a beautiful woman with a different agenda that he then meekly adopts as his own," Levin says.

In the months since their royal exit, the Duke and Duchess have been vocal on numerous issues, including previously unchartered territory for Harry — politics.

Appearing in the broadcast of TIME magazine's 100 Most Influential People list for 2020, the prince made his first public remarks about the US election.

"This election, I'm not going to be able to vote in the US, and many of you may not know that I haven't been able to vote in the UK my entire life," he told viewers.

"As we approach this November, it's vital we reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity."

In her article, Levin also argues Harry's actions during the COVID-19 pandemic, including holing up in his "multi-million-dollar mansion" in Montecito and announcing various lucrative content deals, have come across as "out of touch".

"In this crisis, the Royal family have been extremely stretched, and Prince Harry in particular would have excelled at giving people hope and strength," she says.
