Prince George and Princess Charlotte apparently can’t sit with their parents at the dinner table

The royal family are no strangers to etiquette; the list of rules they have to follow stretches longer than us mere mortals could imagine. So it’s unsurprising that protocol is taught from a young age, and even future king Prince George and his sister Princess Charlotte are forbidden from certain behaviours.

According to Harper’s Bazaar Australia, the younger generation aren’t allowed to eat at the same table as their adult family members during official royal visits… at least until they’ve “learned the art of polite conversation”.

Ouch.

It’s not the only rule George and Charlotte (and Prince Louis, when he gets older) need to follow. They are also required to learn multiple languages, which isn’t entirely surprising, given the amount of travel around the Commonwealth they will undoubtedly do.

PEOPLE reported that Princess Charlotte has been picking up Spanish from her nanny, who is a native and is said to speak in her mother tongue around the children. George, who attends school full-time now, can already count to ten in Spanish, according to the Duchess of Cambridge.

We also know that Prince George only wears shorts in public (except for at the royal wedding), as is traditional for upper class boys in England until the age of around seven.

Charlotte, meanwhile, always wears a pretty bow in her hair to match her dress.

As they get older, George, Charlotte and Louis will continue to follow the royal rules, which include no tiaras before marriage (even for Princess Charlotte) and no social media accounts.

Guess we’ll just have to stick to this parody Prince George account instead.
