Prince Andrew warned to 'stay away' from US Epstein investigation

US legal experts have warned that Prince Andrew could be making an "error of astounding proportion" if he travels to the US to participate in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.

Since the royal's connection to Epstein was revealed last year, there have been calls for him to testify under oath about his knowledge of the disgraced financier's crimes.

Royal fans and legal experts alike have urged Andrew to cooperate with the FBI and other authorities on the Epstein case, but ex-US-government prosecutor Rob Feitel said that could be a bad move for the prince.

"It would be an error of astounding proportion for him to come to the US," he told The Mirror.

"It would probably also be an error for him to ever meet with US law enforcement authorities and make a statement."

The US Department of Justice has filed a legal request to Britain asking Andrew to provide a statement or interview, and lawyers representing Epstein's victims have been urging the royal to speak out for months.

"We would ask him to step forward, step up, be a man and give testimony so that this prosecution can go forward," lawyer Spencer Kuvin told The Sun.

Another lawyer, David Boies, even accused the royal of ignoring three formal interview requests.

But the prince has stayed tight-lipped since his "car crash" interview about his involvement in the Epstein scandal in November last year.

During his appearance on BBC's Newsnight program, Andrew claimed to have had a limited friendship with Epstein and insisted he had no knowledge of the paedophile's crimes.

The royal also said he had "no recollection" of Epstein victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who has accused Andrew of having sex with her while she was underage.

Despite suggesting he would cooperate with authorities on the Epstein investigation, Andrew has kept a low profile and chosen not to speak since the interview.

He was forced to step back from his royal duties due to backlash following the interview airing and hasn't returned to his role as a senior working royal.

Now it seems that staying silent will be in the prince's best interest, if Feitel's comments are anything to go by.
