Prince Harry and Meghan are among a list of famous names celebrating Tyler Perry.
Perry, who is godfather to the couple's daughter Lilibet, is being honoured with the Paley Centre for Media's highest honour.
It was announced on July 17 that the filmmaker would be honoured at the Paley Centre's Beverly Hills gala in December this year, with names such as Whoopi Goldberg, Kerry Washington and Gayle King on the list of tribute chairs, alongside the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

"Throughout my career, I have strived to bring people together and to give a voice to those often underrepresented in media," Perry said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Media has served as a vital platform for this mission, and I'm honoured to receive this award from The Paley Center for Media, an organisation that has dedicated itself to spotlighting the power and importance of media."
The gala will serve as a celebration of Perry's career as a writer, actor, director, producer and studio owner.

Perry first connected with Harry and Meghan in 2018, reaching out to the Suits actress ahead of her royal wedding to note the importance of the shift her marriage into the royal family marked.
He offered for Meghan to call if she ever needed, and she took him up on the offer in 2020 as she and Prince Harry announced their decision to leave their royal duties.
Before ever having met in person, Perry offered the couple his Los Angeles estate and a security detail as they went through a huge transitional period.
Eventually, Harry and Meghan found their home in Montecito, but the couple say they couldn't be more grateful to Perry for his kindness.

In the documentary series Harry & Meghan, Perry shared that he received a "pretty serious" phone call from his friends following Lilibet's birth in June 2021.
"I go, 'Okay, what's going on?' They said, 'Well, we'd like for you to be Lili's godfather'," he shared.
"I go, 'Whoa.' I had to take a minute to take that in. And I thought, 'I'd be honoured. I'd absolutely be honoured'."
