Palace in 'shock' after Meghan Markle's personal assistant suddenly quit

Just six months after her wedding to Prince Harry, one of Meghan Markle's closest aides – her personal assistant – has allegedly quit.

A royal insider told the Daily Mail that the PA, known only as 'Melissa', had resigned quite suddenly.

"It’s a real shock," the source told the paper. "Why would she want to leave such a prestigious job so soon?"

Kensington Palace did not comment on the resignation, but a Palace 'source' was authorised to say, "Melissa is a hugely talented person. She played a pivotal role in the success of the Royal Wedding and will be missed by everyone in the Royal Household."

Theories are flying as to why 'Melissa' would have stepped down from the role. The Daily Mail suggests that the stress of the royal wedding took its toll on the assistant, as she was reportedly tasked with handling the entire Thomas Markle paparazzi drama.

Not only that, there are the new claims from royal biographer Robert Jobson that tensions were high in the lead up to the big day. Jobson wrote, "Raising his voice on occasion, Harry would insist: 'What Meghan wants, she gets'."

So perhaps it was compounded stress that caused Meghan's PA to take her leave? It's a possibility. But maybe, and far more likely, she found another opportunity much more suited to her career. Usually with these things, the most simple explanation is the truest.
