Two of Meghan Markle's friends who attended her baby shower have been delayed for over 17 hours as they travelled from New York back to Los Angeles.

The Duchess of Sussex's pals Abigail Spencer and Taryn Toomey were stranded at the airport as they tried to make their way back home.

Initially, Meghan's Former Suits co-star Abigail and pilates teacher friend Taryn were delayed for five hours. However they soon realised that their flight was scheduled for the next day – adding an extra 17 hours to the journey.

The pair took to Instagram to document their troubles, with posts uploaded from the plane's first class area, and in the terminal.

Abigail also tweeted her flight dramas, calling out airline United for its unprofessional delay.

"Boo @united...delayed the flight for 6 hours, got us all to the board the plane; we wait another hour then cancel our flight not because of weather but because you are short staffed & didn’t plan?"

"Then have us run to another plane that hasn’t left yet to have us reticket, board again only to hear now that the pilot on this flight might time out too? Really bad @united.”
