In a week where royal watchers have been given new glimpses of the Sussex children, now Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has made a rare comment about her only daughter, Princess Lilibet.

The Duchess of Sussex was interviewing a teenager who started a movement in the days after the California bushfires that ravaged the state earlier this year when she briefly mentioned four-year-old Lili.

Meghan was interviewing Avery Colvert and her mother for the latest edition of Town and Country when attention turned to her own daughter, whom she shares with husband Prince Harry.

Colvert launched Altadena Girls, a charity and social movement to support teenage girls who lost their homes and belongings in the Eaton Canyon Fire that was part of the wider California bushfires of January 2025.

Colvert was just 14 when she started an Instagram account to thank her community for the food, water and household items that were donated.

She then put out a call for specific items for girls, such as clothing, beauty products and other essentials to "help my friends feel confident and like themselves again".

The post went viral and attracted the attention of celebrities, including the duchess, who joined volunteers to organise and distribute the donations.

Since then, the organisation has continued to grow to include a recently opened community centre, and during the interview, Meghan praised Colvert for her efforts.

"You never thought your work would grow to be this big. And even if it hadn't, it still would have been meaningful and made an impact," she said.

"My goodness, if our daughter turns out to be anything like you, I'll be the proudest mum."

It is the second time Meghan has mentioned Lili in the past week.

Just days earlier, she spoke about Lili and her older brother Archie during a visit to Godmothers Bookstore to support her friend Courtney Adamo's new book.

During the event, which was livestreamed, she said the family often sit around their dinner table and ask their children to name the "rose and thorn" of their day, that is best and worst part of their day.

"Our daughter, she's four, and she's a very strong personality and she's incredible," Meghan said.

"And now she's in this moment where I say, 'What's your rose and your thorn?' And she goes, 'My day was just a blast'."

Meghan also shared a glimpse of the two children picking pumpkins to carve into jack-o'-lanterns in the lead up to Halloween this week.
