The moment Prince Harry and King Charles came face-to-face after bombshell memoir caught on camera

The moment Prince Harry and King Charles came face-to-face in public for the first time since the publication of Harry's memoir Spare was caught on camera at the king's coronation on Saturday.

The Duke of Sussex arrived ahead of his father and took a seat in the third row for the ceremony, two rows behind his brother Prince William, Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Harry sat stone-faced as the ceremony commenced and as King Charles entered Westminster Abbey, cameras caught the first moment the father-son pair appeared in public together in months.

Charles did not look towards his son as he proceeded through the Abbey, staring resolutely ahead as expected for the coronation.

It's unclear if Harry and Charles spent any time together before the official ceremony and the pair arrived separately, Charles by royal carriage and Harry with several non-working royals.

Their public reunion comes months after the release of Harry's memoir, Spare, which included several unflattering claims about his father.

He claimed Charles made cruel comments about his parentage, quipping "Who knows if I'm really the Prince of Wales? Who knows if I'm even your real father?"

Harry also implied Charles felt he was to blame for Harry's mental health struggles, writing that his father "lowered his head and said, 'I suppose it's my fault. I should have gotten you the help you needed years ago.'"

Charles was said to be deeply hurt by his second son's book claims, as well as some comments Harry made in his Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan.

"We know the King loves his son, wants to bring him back into the fold," Camilla Tominey told Nine news before the coronation.

"Any parent out there knows it is hard to forgive children, even if they have deeply hurt and upset you."

She confirmed that there is is still "tension" between Harry and other royals, such as his brother Prince William, which is unlikely to be resolved during Harry's short stay in the UK.

"People like me will be looking out for some of the body language between Harry and his nearest and dearest, not the least after everything that was said and done in Spare," she said.

However, at least one royal appeared to offer Harry an olive branch as they arrived at the coronation on Saturday.

The Duke of Sussex arrived with cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, along with their respective husbands Jack Brooksbank and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

As they entered, Edoardo reached out to place a friendly hand on Harry's back and shared a smile with the royal.

It was one of the few moments where Harry was seen interacting with other members of the monarchy, as he sat quietly throughout the ceremony.

Princess Anne also took a moment to greet her nephew before the ceremony commenced, the two sharing a smile.

Though cameras caught most of the action, Harry wasn't seen speaking to his brother Prince William at all.
