New update about Kate's secret project shared on Royal Foundation website

The Royal Foundation website has posted an update on the "major body of work" the Duchess of Cambridge will unveil later this year.

The newly revamped website for the Duke and Duchess' charity foundation details how Kate, 37, will spotlight the importance of early intervention in childhood.

"The first few years of childhood are more pivotal for development, future health and happiness, than any other single moment of our lifetime," the 'Early Years' section of the website states.

"With greater focus on the early years, the Duchess of Cambridge believes we can better provide solid social and emotional platforms for children to make them healthier and more resilient later in life."

To this end, Kate and the Royal Foundation have formed a steering group of academics, practitioners and charities to support efforts to give children a positive start.

The royal mother of three's interest in early intervention has stemmed from her work on issues including addiction and family breakdown, the website adds.

"The Duchess has observed that so many of society's greatest social and health challenges, and the inter-generational cycle of disadvantage, could be mitigated or entirely avoided by providing the right support for children in the earliest years in life."

Catherine announced her intention to focus on the issue at a symposium of leading academics and charities held in March 2018.

"We know how negative the downstream impact can be, if problems emerging at the youngest age are overlooked, or ignored," she explained in an address.

"It is therefore vital that we nurture children through this critical, early period.

"I really do feel so passionately about the importance of early intervention, and that by working on new approaches together, we can make a real difference for generations to come."

The Duchess attended her latest royal engagement on Wednesday night, visiting London's Natural History Museum, of which she is a patron.

There, she observed how the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity is helping to protect the nation's wildlife.
