Kate Middleton has revealed the thing she believes is "instrumental" in aiding a child's development.

The Duchess of Cambridge unveiled her new project set to debut at the Chelsea Flower Show in a few days time – her 'Back to Nature' garden.

In one of the photos released on the official Kensington Palace Instagram page, the 37-year-old is sitting on a rope swing dressed down in the middle of the garden she co-designed with Andree Davies and Adam White.

The project is particularly poignant for the mum-of-three as she believes outdoor activities are essential in helping children develop.

"In recent years I have focussed much of my work on the early years, and how instrumental they are for outcomes later in life," she says ahead of the showcase.

"I believe that spending time outdoors when we are young can play a role in laying the foundations for children to become happy, healthy adults.”

The swing that the Duchess – who is mum to Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, four and one-year-old Prince Louis – is seen on is meant to encourage "creative play and discovery for all generations".

In two other photos posted on social media, Kate is seen working with her co-designers on the garden which is supposed to be a place for families to spend time enjoying the outdoors together.

"The garden forms part of Her Royal Highness’s ongoing work on early childhood development and her mission to support efforts that give every child the best possible start in life," the Kensington Palace Instagram post further explains.
