Kate Middleton had a secret message hidden in her video statement released early Saturday morning.

Eagle-eyed royal watchers have noticed that the Princess of Wales included a subtle tribute to those struggling with cancer in the video announcing her own diagnosis with the disease.

In the two-minute clip, Kate is seen sitting on a bench in the gardens of Windsor Castle, in the background yellow daffodils can be seen blossoming from a shrub.

The yellow daffodil is a symbol used across the globe by cancer organisations.

The flower is said to symbol hope for those battling the disease, as it symbolises rebirth and new beginnings.

The Australian Cancer Council even hosts an annual Daffodil Day to fundraise money to support those with cancer.

The daffodil is also said to be a beacon of resilience and reassurance, as it blooms every year in Spring.

In her statement, Kate also directly addressed those affected by cancer, saying, "For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone."

Kate revealed that the reason behind her recent absence from the public eye was that she had received a cancer diagnosis.

The disease was found when she went into hospital for a planned abdominal surgery.

"At the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous," she explained. "The surgery was successful.

"However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment."

The world instantly rallied around the Princess, with messages of support being sent in from across the globe.

"The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness' message," said a spokesperson for Kensington Palace in a statement released Sunday morning.

"They are extremely moved by the public's warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time."

It is unclear what form of cancer Kate has or when she will return to work, however she has assured the public that she is OK and "getting stronger every day."
