Kate Middleton makes a 'virtual visit' to addiction treatment centre

The Duchess of Cambridge recently visited staff and clients at a UK addiction treatment centre — from the comfort of her home.

Kate Middleton undertook a virtual tour of the Clouds House centre last Thursday to see how the staff have continued their work during the COVID-19 period.

The centre is run by Action on Addiction, one of the charities of which the Duchess is royal patron. She first visited Clouds House, located in Wiltshire, in 2012.

Beaming in from her Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, Kate enjoyed a video group call with staff members and was shown around the building.

"Well done to all of you who are continuing to provide the most life-saving, crucial support," she told the team.

Along with staff members, she spoke with some of the centre's current clients and others who are accessing the centre's aftercare services online.

The Duchess was also briefed on the results of a UK poll commissioned by the charity, which suggest the pandemic has given rise to addictive behaviours.

Kate has been self-isolating at Anmer Hall with Prince William and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis since March.

During that time, the Duke and Duchess have taken part in numerous video calls and online interactions with charities, and virtual campaigns supporting frontline workers.
