Prince Andrew emerges to hand out care packages during pandemic

Prince Andrew has been keeping a low profile since he was forced to give up his role as a senior royal in the wake of the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal.

But the royal has now appeared to hand out COVID-19 care packages with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, emerging after months of avoiding public engagements.

The Duke and Duchess of York came together to pack bags of Easter goods into pink bags which were delivered to staff at the Thames Hospice, where visits have been restricted in a bid to prevent the virus from spreading to the at-risk patients.

In photos shared to Facebook by Sarah's assistant, Antonia Marshall, Andrew can be seen chatting with his ex-wife and placing items in the bags, before handing them off to hospice staff.

"The York Family are a wonderful and steadfast unit and through this crisis, are continuously helping others. So proud of them all..." Ms Marshall captioned the photos.

Andrew, 60, hasn't been seen in public for weeks, his last notable appearance at a church service with the Queen in January.

He has been working to keep a low profile since giving a 'car crash' BBC Newsnight interview last November, where he addressed his connection to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the allegations made against Andrew by one of Epstein's alleged victims.

In the interview, Andrew insisted he had "no recollection" of accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claims the Duke had sex with her when she was still a minor.

Ms Giuffre has recently been tested for COVID-19 after experiencing symptoms.

Andrew faced massive backlash after the interview aired and was forced to "step back" from his royal role and public life, avoiding the press since then despite continued scrutiny around his relationship with Epstein.

Now royal fans have suggested that the Duke is working to improve his image by publicly joining the support effort during the coronavirus crisis and helping to put care packages together.

His ex-wife, Sarah, and daughters Beatrice and Eugenie have been vocal about supporting workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Eugenie and Sarah have been self-isolating together and putting together care packages for NHS staff, as well as calling on British residents to support workers in their local areas.
