How Harry and Meghan inspired one of their wedding guests to change her big day

There's no doubt Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding has provided inspiration for many a bride- and groom-to-be around the world.

From Meghan's "barely there" makeup and long-sleeved bridal gown, to the beer pong played during their reception, there's no telling how many trends the couple has kick-started since they said "I do" on May 19.

However, it seems the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding day choices also inspired some of the guests who witnessed the event first-hand.

British TV personality and model Chloe Madeley attended the ceremony at Windsor Castle with her fiance James Haskell, a football star and friend of Prince Harry.

Speaking to Hello! magazine, Madeley admitted the Royal Wedding had changed her mind on where her own nuptials should take place.

"I think it was Meghan and Harry’s wedding that inspired James to choose to get married in church," she says.

"He sat me down and said: ‘I can tell you why I love you every day but I won’t get to make these vows unless we marry in church. I want to get married in a serious, historical ceremony.'"

"Until then I’d assumed we’d just pop in to a register office. Now I find the thought of standing in front of him in church very exciting."

Madeley and Haskell won't be the only ones channelling the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their big day.

Princess Eugenie's October 12 wedding to Jack Brooksbank will have more than a few commonalities with her cousin's.

Just as Harry and Meghan did, the couple will exchange vows in St George's Chapel, and have invited members of the public to apply to watch the event from within the grounds of Windsor Castle.

They'll be joined by invited guest representatives of charities and organisations supported by the couple.

Following the ceremony, Eugenie and Jack will also undertake a carriage ride through the streets of Windsor, though their route will be shorter than the one taken by the royal newlyweds back in May.

Given the rise and rise of elaborate weddings, the trend for carriage rides could very well transcend royal weddings and come to a big day near you. Watch this space.
