Camilla 'spluttered tea' after Prince Harry suggested using a mediator to ease familial tensions
Camilla, Queen Consort, reportedly "spluttered" her tea after Prince Harry suggested that a mediator be used to help ease familial tensions.
According to the royal book The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth's Legacy and the Future of the Crown by Katie Nichols, the Duke of Sussex put forward the idea of a "mediator" during a visit to the UK in April, where he and wife Meghan stopped off before attending the Invictus Games in the Hague.
In a passage of the book shared to Vanity Fair, Nichols claims that Charles insisted on meeting with the former royals prior to the Royal Maundy Service at Windsor Castle in April.

The meeting, which Meghan and Harry arrived late to, was described as "awkward" and whilst Charles and Harry "greeted each other warmly" there were still "moments of tension."
"Harry went in with hugs and the best of intentions and said he wanted to clear the air," according to a family friend.
"He actually suggested that they use a mediator to try and sort things out, which had Charles somewhat bemused and Camilla spluttering into her tea," they continued.
"She told Harry it was ridiculous and that they were a family and would sort it out between themselves."
At the time of the meeting, the Prince and Princess of Wales were away on a skiing holiday, which they "pointedly" did not change their plans for.

Tensions between Prince Harry and the royal family have received widespread publicity, with many speculating that the Duke of Sussex will address the friction in his upcoming memoir.
Harry's tell-all memoir was first announced back in July 2021, a year on from the duke and duchess' historic resignation from the working royal life.
The duke explained in a statement at the time that he was writing his book "not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become."

"I've worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story – the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think," his statement continued.
"I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I've learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that's accurate and wholly truthful."
Penguin publishing house has previously announced that the proceeds from Prince Harry's book will be donated to charity.
