Roommate shares picture of revolting roomie's mess

We've all got at least one story about a bad roommate; for example, I once lived with a guy who regularly blasted Kanye West in the bathroom at 6am to 'pump him up' for the day.

But in most cases – mine included – a few stern words and a little bit of compromise can sort the issue out quickly.

That's not the case for one group of UK roommates, who appear to be sharing their home with just about the grubbiest person on the planet.

Sharing photos of their horrendously messy flat to a 'Roommates From Hell' Facebook page, the group revealed the atrocious state of their roomie's bedroom, among other things.

"His room smells like old c-m, lube, a-s, and spoiled food," they wrote alongside a shot of his cluttered bedroom.

The floor is strewn with everything from opened packages, to takeout wrappers, dirty dishes and a manky old pair of boots.

And by the sound of things his room isn't the only place this bloke leaves in a state.

Photos of the kitchen revealed more dirty plates, cups and bowls, as well as half-eaten food and grubby pots and pans.

"The sink isn’t as bad but my roommate is refusing to clean, he hasn’t done dishes all but two times in the time he has been here," the guy's roommate explained, though he didn't say how long they'd been living together.

"I have told him multiple times to clean up his f--king dishes which are everywhere!"

But it doesn't look like the message is getting through.

People on the Facebook page were quick to slam the messy roommate for his disgusting habits, branding his attitude towards cleanliness as "nasty" and "vile."

The roommate who posted the pictures added that the guy had a therapy appointment booked, meaning he could have some mental health troubles that contribute to him being unwilling to clean the mess.

However there are ways around being unable to clean for yourself, and this messy roomie really needs to figure something out before he burns all bridges with the people he lives with.

Though we can't all be neat freaks, the fact of the matter is that this roommate's mess is having a major impact on the people he's living with, and that's not cool.

If you have a room to yourself in a share house, by all means let it be messy, but when the smell and clutter starts to spread into communal areas you need to take responsibility and sort it out.

For people with mental health issues that prevent them from cleaning, that could mean paying a cleaner to do it or even having friends come around to help sort the mess.

And for roommates that are just lazy slobs; no excuses.

A bit of mess is fine, but when your grubby dishes have been sat by the sink for months, it's time to sort yourself out or find somewhere else to live.
