Rebecca Maddern on her Footy show Grand Final performance: 'It's a little bit different'

Rebecca Maddern is recalling the infamous moment she performed on stage at last year’s AFL Grand Final Footy Show. “About five minutes before that performance I was looking at my co-dancer backstage and I just had this moment of ‘What on earth am I doing?! Why did you say yes?! You could have just said no!’” she explains to 9Honey, laughing at her own expense. “I was so anxious before I walked out but then I just thought, ‘Well, it’s do or die now, I can really give it my all...or there’s no alternative, so I’m just going to have to give it my all’”

“Give it my all” is something of an understatement for AFL Footy Show host Bec. It’s fair to say, she smashed it. 



The performance was so legendary that she tells us people are still talking about it a year later. The keen sports fan who studied journalism at university, becoming a star herself? Not something she imagined, but she tells us she’s taking it in her stride: “This job has taken me on a direction which I never thought I would be going along, but it’s really exciting and an amazing opportunity and at the end of the day it’s just a bit of fun.”
