Princess Mary welcomes Japan’s Crown Prince to Danish royal palace

For the past three days, Princess Mary has been the perfect gracious host to the Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito.
 
The Japanese royal is in Europe to celebrate the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and enjoyed a lunch at Fredensborg Palace in Copenhagen alongside Mary and Frederik, plus Queen Margarethe.

Mary looked resplendent in a green floral blouse and skirt by Danish fashion brand Ganni, which she accessorised with the royal classic; a pair of nude pointed heels. She wore her hair back and added a simple pair of earrings. Queen Margarethe, meanwhile, appears to have taken a leaf out of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s book and opted for a pink dress, just as the Duchess did over the weekend for the Trooping of the Colour.
 
Mary and Frederik are patrons of the anniversary celebration for Japan and Denmark, and have been accompanying Crown Prince Naruhito on his visits. On Friday, the three attended a traditional Japanese music concert at the Royal Playhouse, with Mary wearing a beautiful dress by Kate Middleton’s favourite designer, Alexander McQueen.

Last week, Japanese officials passed a one-off bill that would allow Naruhito's father to abdicate, making way for his oldest son, who's 57, to take the throne.

His wife, Crown Princess Masako, is something of an anomaly in royal families, and has opted to stay out of royal events for the past ten years. According to a palace statement issued in 2004, Masako was diagnosed with an "adjustment disorder".

She's slowly returned to public life over the past two years, issuing a statement last year saying she was "filled with emotions" over her in-laws' possible abdication.
