Postman's sweet note for person stuck in isolation sparks praise online: 'Legend!'

A postie has been hailed as a hero after sharing a heartwarming message on a missed delivery card to a lonely resident.

The postman added a special card to the package he was delivering to a Glasgow resident stuck in self-isolation.

Posting an image of the parcel on Reddit, the anonymous resident explained they were currently self-isolating alone amid the pandemic - when they spotted their delivery man's sweet words.

"I have a note up on my door explaining that I'm self isolating until next weekend and asking that any parcels be left on the doormat," they shared in the post.

The resident added, "just got this through from the postman," alongside an image of the delivery.

The postman had attached a personal note to the package, telling the patron "if you need anything bought in from shops let me know."

The generous gesture sparked an avalanche of praise from social media users, with many sharing their own stories of random acts of kindness from essential workers throughout the pandemic.

"My local postie has been looking in on elderly neighbours and those shielding since March of last year," shared one user.

The person said their delivery people had spent their time "talking through windows", "taking shoppings lists" and "keeping an eye" on the neighbourhood ever since the start of the pandemic.

"Legends!" they declared.

Another said after their postie didn't see them at home to deliver a package that day, he returned hours later to try again.

"I was at home by then. It was a couple of months ago, in the middle of the lockdown," they shared.

"He didn't have to. He could have just left a slip. He's a legend and always wears a massive smile. I made sure I left praise for him on the Royal mail website for going the extra mile and saving us to go to the pick up point."

While a third simply wrote "good to know there are decent, honest Posties still running about, mine's a good lad as well."
