Police officer recovers woman's lost engagement ring

A New Jersey police department has gone above and beyond to help out a citizen.

Kimberly Garcia was driving her car along Route 4 in New Jersey, north-west of New York City, when she noticed she had a flat tyre.

She duly pulled up on the side of the road, changed the tyre and then drove off.

But when she arrived at home some time later, she realised she had lost her diamond engagement ring at some point that day, and concluded that it must have fallen off when she was changing the flat tyre. 

Garcia filed a report with the Paramus Police Department to record the loss. She and the police officer on duty, Officer Jon Henderson, drove back to the spot where she'd changed the tyre and searched for the lost ring, but couldn't find it.  

But for the kindhearted Officer Henderson, that wasn't the end of the story. The next day, he drove back to that same spot and started looking again for the ring. Incredibly, he managed to find it, and soon reunited it with its overjoyed owner.

Many commenters were sincerely appreciative of the officer's work. Selette Grootenboer wrote: "Way to go that extra mile Officer Henderson!"

Corrie van der Wilt commented, "It's like a needle in the haystack, great job Jon Henderson! I'm glad you found the ring and made Ms. Garcia happy." And Don Pierce added, "Awesome job! No surprise here. Paramus PD is a class outfit."
