Pete Evans’ latest podcast addresses 'ramifications' of vaccines

Pete Evans is no stranger to creating a conversation about contentious issues.

From his celebration of the Paleo diet, to questioning what the levels of fluoride in tap water are doing to us, he’s made a career of questioning the status quo.

However, in March 2017, Evans received criticism from AMA President Dr Michael Gannon on SKY News for 'dipping his toe in the water' when it comes to vaccination. The AMA President told AMA President Dr Michael Gannon on SKY News that Evans "needs to be more responsible".

In his latest podcast, Recipes for Life with Pete Evans, the author and TV chef opens the floor to talk vaccines with his guest Dr Kelly Brogan, a Manhattan-based holistic women's health psychiatrist.

The pair can be heard discussing some of Dr Brogan’s approaches and Evans poses a question alluding to both general and flu vaccines in relation to upsetting the body's balance:

"You talk about anything you consume or put onto your body, you talk about the type of water we drink and the type of foods that can cause inflammation, different medications and vaccines… can you talk about these things, that are so normal in our Western society, that people don’t even think about whether it’s the water from their tap, or any type of flu vaccine or whatever it may be that can have potential dramatic ramifications?"

Dr Brogan replies with:

"I love the analogy of the bucket, that we all have this bucket of body burden and that it gets filled up at different rates and through different exposures but once it gets full to the brim then there can be that one final exposure and maybe it’s a pharmaceutical product like the vaccine… and for everyone that tipping point will be different, but that’s when you go to the doctor and when you feel like you’ve developed symptoms."

Dr Brogan has previously published material on vaccines and brain health, including the claim that vaccines cause autism.

However, Dr Tony Bartone, Vice President of the Australian Medical Association, tells 9Honeythat "scientific evidence has categorically proven that vaccination saves lives and will not only protect the people being vaccinated but also the community at large" from illnesses such as measles and flu epidemics.

Dr Bartone also addresses the conversation around the issue of autism and vaccines.

"This has been thoroughly discredited... there is no scientific evidence showing a connection or linkage between autism and vaccines are linked," he says.

But he does acknowledge that not everyone can have vaccinations.

"Not everyone can have vaccinations because there are people who are allergic to certain vaccines and various other reasons such as people undergoing chemotherapy treatment. That's a conversation that needs to be had between the patient and doctor where they can go through all the possible side effects of the vaccination, which are mostly mild to moderate in nature and will usually disappear without medical treatment within 24 - 48 hours," he says.

Dr Brogan also stated that her mission is to allow people to have access to all the material not just what’s ‘convenient’ for pharmaceutical companies, so people can make their own educated decisions.

In the podcast, Evans says Dr Brogan’s ‘holistic’ approach to a healing lifestyle is something he ‘loves’.

9Honey has reached out to Pete Evans for comment.
