Perth man charged after allegedly upskirting shop assistant

A Perth man has been charged with indecency after allegedly filming up a WA shop assistant's skirt while she worked. 

The supermarket shared CCTV stills of the upskirting incident on their Facebook page yesterday in the hope of tracking him down.

In the pictures, the man — who has not been named by Cannington police — appears to film the woman on his phone while she restocked a fridge.

Shop management claim he also harassed her while she was working alone with "explicit, inappropriate comments" before "taking compromising photos of her".

A woman — who says she is the man's wife — quickly rushed to his defence on Facebook saying he was sending photos of a Duff energy drink in the fridge to her.

Police have since confirmed a 26-year-old Byford man has been charged with one count of committing an indecent act in public.

"The man walked in and out of the shop a number of times", they said.

"During one occasion, he allegedly recorded up her skirt using his mobile phone."

He will appear before Perth Magistrates Court next month.
