Influencer responds to mockery for crying after 'mowing her lawn': 'Saddened'

An Australian influencer has been mocked for crying after 'mowing her lawn' — but not everyone thinks it's as ridiculous as it sounds.

Instagram account @celeb_spellcheck poked fun at Olivia Mathers after she posted in her Instagram Stories about the tearful "process" she'd undergone while tidying up her backyard.

"I've had tears through this process...Happy tears, because I am just so f---ing proud of myself," she wrote in the original post, along with a photo of the results.

"It's so easy to be faced with an unknown/new situation and say, 'I can't'."

Mathers then shared a few words of wisdom: "My advice and something I am only just learning is, give yourself more credit & challenge yourself to create the results in want in life, it every aspect. It's damn f---ing empowering."

She signed off with a shoutout to her mum, who she thanked for setting "the absolute best example" and being "one of the best role models".

Reposting the photo, @celeb_spellcheck, an account with over 160,000 followers, quipped of Mathers' choice of phrasing, "You mowed the lawn".

Many Instagram users joined Celeb Spellcheck in roasting Mathers.

"I refuse to believe this isn't satire," one person commented, while another added, "Started from the backyard now we here."

"Tbh this is how I feel when I clean the shower," a third person wrote.

Yet not everyone was on board with the mockery, one commenter writing, "It wasn't just mowing the lawn...it was hours of manual labour on the hottest weekend of the year".

Another influencer, Georgia Grace, took to her own Instagram Stories to defend Mathers.

Reposting Celeb Spellcheck's post, Georgia wrote a lengthy response, calling out the account's criticism.

"This makes me so angry. She's obviously going through a rough patch in her life and is proud of herself for getting up and finding the motivation and doing something she hasn't done on her own before," she wrote.

"It might not be 'mowing the lawn' that was hard for her. It was probably finding the strength in herself to get up and get it done and has every right to be proud of herself for that. PEOPLE NEED TO GET A LIFE," the influencer added.

Georgia added another post in her story, writing, "Just because she's an influencer doesn't mean she doesn't have feelings. Thank you, goodbye."

Mathers thanked Georgia for sticking up for her, resharing the post in her Instagram Stories.

"I was [saddened] to see my vulnerable moment of gratitude be so quickly turned into a laugh," she wrote.

"Thank you @georgia.grace for unapologetically empathising with me."
