Adele tops list of singers Aussies want to see perform Down Under

Australia has been spoiled for choice recently with many major artists dropping by the land Down Under.

Of course we are all coming down from the high of Swiftmania, but there are also a number of celebs roaming our shores right now, such as Pink, Blink 182, Kourtney Kardashian, Katy Perry, The Jonas Brothers, and more.

But this isn't enough for Aussies, who demand their favourite singers bring their music Down Under to share with us.

When asking Aussies who their top pick would be to perform on our shores, they were very vocal about their preferences.

Four per cent of Aussies say they wouldn't mind seeing Beyoncé or Katy Perry in person, with one adding of the California Girls singer, "I've never heard her sing but I believe her lyrics are good."

While Rihanna got two per cent of voters, Lady Gaga was chosen by nine per cent.

But the top pick among the artists was for soloist Adele, who received 13 per cent of the votes.

"She is second to none," said one participant. "Her journey is a great story and... she is so grounded and real."

Fans may have to wait a while though, as the singer has just announced she is postponing her Las Vegas residency due to health issues.

''Sadly I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency," she explained in a post.

"I was sick at the end of the last leg an all the way through my break. I hadn't quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed and now I'm sick again, and unfortunately it's all taken a toll on my voice."

The hitmaker explained that she is postponing five weekends of her shows, assuring fans that they will have more information soon about their tickets.

"And so on Doctors orders, I have no choice but to rest thoroughly," she said.

She captioned her post: "I love you, I'll miss you like mad and I'm sorry for the inconvenience x."

In the meantime, many other names were added to the wish list of performers, including Miley Cyrus, John Mayer, John Fogarty, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart, Nita Strauss and more.

Another added, "I would like to see artists like Dame Shirley Bassey and Michael Ball, I am too old for pop stars."

"I would love to see Joni Mitchell (but am) aware it's not possible due to her health issues," said one disappointed fan.

"I really like to see Sir Paul McCartney to tour Australia (especially Melbourne) again. I love to see him again because I missed out last year," added another.

"Duran Duran I have been waiting YEARS for your next Australian tour. Please come Down Under soon," one passionate fan begged.

One respondent believed in nurturing home-grown talent.

"I think we should support local artists not overseas megastars. Local bands have issues with festivals and gigs being cancelled and venues shutting down," they pointed out.

Another demanded "concerts that are more open to middle-aged people. We are not dead yet!"
