Mum criticised for straightening young daughter’s hair

A mother is facing backlash after she posted a video online straightening her one-year-old daughter’s naturally curly hair.

Crystal Harden shared a video of daughter Aiden shaking her head to show her new hair with the caption: “Straightened my baby’s hair yesterday — she’s so gorgeous”.

The video was then shared by a popular Instagram account, and quickly attracted hundreds of comments from users who accused Harden of “sexualising” her daughter. One user wrote “Too young gonna damage her hair early on”, while others commented that she should let her daughter be natural before she’s aware of hair straightening.
