Mum has perfect response to supermarket body shamer

When a stranger in the supermarket told Charli Stevens “I think your clothes are a little too small for you,” she was shocked. Understandably.

Stevens had quickly ran out to pick up some necessities, and hadn’t given much thought to her outfit - as you wouldn’t. However, a stranger cearly had an issue with what she chose to wear, so much so that she called her up about it.

Posting on Facebook, Stevens explained: “I noticed this woman, who was maybe in her 50s, kept staring at me.

“A couple minutes later, she came up to me and said ‘I think your clothes are a little too small on you.’

“Completely caught off guard and baffled and also hoping she didn’t say what I thought she said, I said, ‘excuse me?’ And she said, ‘Well no offense but you’re just a bit big to wear those type of clothes.’ 

“Instant tears.”

Stevens explained that she instantly froze and didn’t know how to react, before returning to her car and sobbing. Hours later, she admitted that the incident had plated on her mind so much that she wanted to post on Facebook about it. 

“It’s no secret that I’ve gained weight throughout life,” she explained. “I’ve birthed two kids so it’s bound to happen. Do I realize I’m overweight? Yes. Do I want to be smaller? Yes. But am I okay with the way I look? Yes!! 

“Why would a complete stranger go out of their way to insult someone? What if I was severely depressed? Or what if I was constantly made fun of for my weight and that one comment from that stranger pushed me over the edge?”
