Career coach reveals the 'simple hack' that earned her a promotion in six months
A career coach has revealed a 'simple career hack' to getting a promotion.
Stephanie Brown shared the tip, originally from Nike's marketing director, that made a "huge difference" in career development and helped her get promoted in "six months".
"Honestly, it's such a simple thing to do that it feels criminal not to share it with other people," she began.
"I went to this marketing director and I said to them, 'I want to get promoted, but I just don't know how to do this'."

They offered her straightforward advice: she needed to make herself more visible in the workplace.
"If you're in a workplace where maybe it's hybrid working, you're only in the office a couple of days a week, how do you become more visible to people if you're not in the office every single day?" Brown recalls asking.
"And she said to me, 'The way you become more visible is you walk the floors.'"
So, what does walking the floors mean?

"You literally come in in the morning, you make a cup of coffee, and you walk the floors," Brown explains.
"If I walk the floors every single morning, people remember that I was there that day, and that's what they remember."
Brown started doing this every morning, checking in with her co-workers and asking them about their weekends and lives.
"Within a month, I really noticed the difference in the perception of how visible I was; all that I had changed was this one thing."

Brown recommends "walking the floors" consistently, saying this method will have a "massive" impact on your career progression.
