Surveillance video shows scene seconds before US model was shot in the neck

US police have released surveillance footage of a scene recorded just seconds before an aspiring model was shot in the neck and crashed her car.

Kelsey Quayle, 28, was driving down Upper Riverdale Road in Clayton County, Georgia at 7am on October 8 when an unknown assailant opened fire on her.

A gunshot struck Quayle in the neck, causing her to lose control of her vehicle and crash head-on with another car.

Authorities are hoping the video of a white SUV and grey sedan that passed her car will encourage any potential witnesses to come forward.

"We would especially like to speak with the driver of the white SUV and the driver of the gray sedan that is seen passing Kelsey's vehicle as it is traveling in the lanes of oncoming traffic," police wrote in a Facebook post.

Following the initial collision, three more vehicles became involved in the car accident.

"We believe [the shooting] was the primary cause of her not being conscious, leaving the roadway into the length of traffic," Clayton County Police Captain Scott Stubbs told FOX5.

The aspiring model was rushed to the hospital from the scene, where doctors discovered a bullet in her neck that had severed her spinal cord at the base of her brain, causing catastrophic brain damage.

Quayle’s family turned her life support off on October 10, four days after the accident.

Her sister Kayleigh Quayle has made a public appeal for help.

"I just want to know who did this. It's ridiculous. She didn't deserve this, " Kayleigh told FOX5.

"Right now a theory would be road rage, or maybe just a cross-fire maybe. But we just have so many unanswered questions."

Quayle, who is originally from California, had recently moved to Georgia with her boyfriend to pursue a modelling career, and had been working at a dentist's office on Monday morning.
