'Please': TV star Meghan McCain's message to fans after health scare

Meghan McCain, former TV host and daughter of US senator John McCain, urged her fans to look out for their health after recently undergoing a health scare.

The former The View host shared on Instagram that a mass was recently discovered on her breast.

"I had to get a mass in my breast biopsied last week and just got the news the test came back benign," she shared.

"I can't tell you how blessed, lucky and relieved I am but for any woman who follows this account or my work, PLEASE get your mammograms!!!"

"It is so important and vital and something I know a lot of us put off. I am 40 and this was a scare for me. Get your mammograms!!!

"Doctors, nurses, pathologists, the mammogram coordinators, all of these people are nothing short of selfless angels who walk among us and I am forever grateful to every single health care professional," the 40-year-old assured.

"Wishing you all a happy, blessed, HEALTHY New Year! 🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️♥️."

Many fellow stars and fans commented on McCain's post expressing their happiness that the mass was benign and sharing more information about breast cancer screening.

Kelly Rizzo, the widow of comedian and actor Bob Saget shared in the comments, "I went [through] this last year. Double biopsy! So scary! So happy you are all good, friend! Such a great relief going into the new year! 🙏🏼❤️"

Columnist Perez Hilton and actor Josh Gad both shared their support by commenting the praying hands emoji.

Breast cancer coach Andrea Berkowitz added a comment about the importance of checking the breast yourself. "I have had breast cancer twice and found both myself. DO SELF BREAST CHECKS REGULARLY!!" she said.

McCain is currently a blogger and podcaster, speaking mainly about politics on her Substack and her podcast, Citizen McCain.

She first came into the public eye for blogging her life following her father on his campaign trail for presidency in 2008.

She continued her journey in media, becoming the host of talk show Outnumbered and later The View until 2021, after which she joined the Daily Mail as a columnist.

She has two daughters with her husband, conservative writer and commentator Ben Domenech.
