Meghan Markle's sister begs for forgiveness

Meghan Markle's half-sister Samantha Grant has apologised for comments she made about about her sibling.

"I can only say to Meg, 'Forgive me'," the 53-year-old said in an emotional interview with the Mirror this week.

Grant was referring to remarks she made on Twitter in March 2017 that questioned how Markle's charity work (in India, among other places) measured up to her earnings.

Grant had further financial criticism of her estranged sister in an interview with an interview with  earlier this week, in regards to the costly  dress 36-year-old Markle wore for her .

"If you can spend $75,000 on a dress, you can spend $75,000 on your dad," Grant said.

"It wasn’t a handout," she explained to the Mirror. "Nobody was asking for money. It’s like, ‘You’re doing really well, help Dad with some of that money back ...'

"I love her but she should help Dad."

She said she and Markle hadn't spoken since late 2014 – in her view, because Markle "got really busy".

"Her last words were, 'I love you, babe. I’m really glad we had this conversation. Keep in touch,'" Grant told the Mirror.

"I should’ve really reached out more," she added, "but I’m proud of her."

Grant emphasised that despite the loaded title –The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister – her forthcoming "tell-all" book is supportive of Markle. Grant sees her project as poking fun at "social perceptions and labels" rather than at the duchess-to-be herself.

She told the Mirror she was of course anxious to attend Markle's upcoming wedding to Prince Harry, but that it was "really up to [Markle]".

"I’d be lying to say that I wouldn’t be hurt if I didn’t get an invite," she said. "But, I think, possibly she might also understand that it’s not easy for all of us to get there. But if we can, we will."

The wedding is currently scheduled for May 19 of this year, and it's estimated that celebrations could bring in as much as $1 billion to the UK economy.
